For my school’s Art x STEM Project titled ‘Resonance’ , I had to create a piece that effectively combined the principles of the interdisciplinary fields of Art, Science, Technology, and Mathematics. For me, one clear theme emerged- identity. I wanted to draw parallels between the intricate hardware of a computer and the structure of a QR code which to me represented the identity of an object. I took this opportunity to experiment with materials beyond my usual comfort zone. The structure of the PC board of a computer, 4 chip and 8 chip integrated circuits, and the tangled web of wires inspired me. Each integrated circuit is a physical manifestation of my experiences and the circuits on the four corners with their extended wires are the stimuluses within my environment. It is as if out of the confusion of multi-coloured wires, and smaller computer chips, one clear command-one clear identity emerged. Here’s to us discovering our identity from among the vast connections of people, switches of change, and software of self-discovery.
