Since childhood, shadows entertained me greatly. My second artwork idea germinates from there. ‘LATITUDINAL PERSONA’ is a product of long research, calculations, several attempts and precision to its fullest. This artwork looks boring at the first glance as it is simply white on white. It has three paper cuttings (stencils) which are horizontally aligned in the background. This creates a sense of latitude on the earth’s surface. Once the light is kept at a certain point, these paper cuttings cast my silhouette onto the main sheet. It was challenging to get my likeness in the shadows. It was a painstaking task to align the stencils with precision, but the end result was worth going through all that hardship.
