Cysterhood

A routine sonography for my mother revealed several problems: ovarian cysts and gallbladder stones. This left me frantically worried and curious. I channelled my tension and fear into this print. Using dimensions of the massive cyst and adding neon hues to the monotone sonography I explored the world of prints and colour psychology. It was as if the added neon pink and teal blues helped me be optimistic and the repetition of the scan at different angles helped me face reality. Experimenting with transparencies, hues, and magnitudes helped me realise-health truly is wealth. Seeing my mother in the hospitals amidst all the drains and tubes is an image that brings me tears each time I introspect. Fearfully inspired by this event, I started taking better care of myself- I watched my mother recover and tried to balance my academics and lifestyle. I displayed it on an X Ray light box to effectively draw parallels between the original sonography and the recreated digital textile print.
